Kim Stout, AMFT
The challenging birth of my twins, marked by 23 hours of labor and subsequent colic issues that required expensive specialized formula, inspired my career as a DONA-certified postpartum doula and perinatal therapist. Through supporting mothers with breastfeeding, baby schedules, and sleep training, I encountered numerous cases of postpartum depression, prompting me to specialize in helping mothers through various perinatal challenges, including depression, anxiety, high-risk pregnancies, and traumatic births.
My passion grew so much from being a doula in helping mothers that it extended out into all stages of children fostering positive emotional attachments to their mothers from birth into adulthood.
In 2010, I faced personal turmoil upon discovering my husband's addiction and infidelity. As a stay-at-home mom, I meticulously gathered evidence, secured a competent attorney, and filed for divorce, enduring eight years of financial and emotional abuse. This experience deepened my understanding of trauma and relationships, leading me to assist mothers in coping with narcissistic and pathological partners.
My practice now includes helping couples with communication issues, childhood trauma, and intimacy problems, as well as working with blended families and individuals with ADD and ADHD. I also offer career counseling, emphasizing the importance of aligning one's career with their desired lifestyle. Specializing in family and generational trauma, I incorporate family dynamics into my therapeutic approach to facilitate meaningful change”
